President – Holly Southey
Holly is responsible for setting the agenda for Inns this academic year. She works closely with the Law School and other institutions to create opportunities for members and to foster our Society’s relationship with the wider legal community. The President’s role also involves delivering talks both inside and outside of the Law School about our society and the opportunities we provide.
Vice-President – Laura Palmer
As Vice-President, Laura is responsible for assisting the President with organisational and logistical aspects of the Society. Her job involves liaising and corresponding with people, both inside and outside of the law school, to ensure the successful delivery of events.
Treasurer – Leona Whitfield
Leona’s duty as treasurer is to ensure that Inns is operating within its means. She guarantees the efficient and smooth running of our events by ensuring that we pay people on time, and have the necessary funds to deliver our roster of outstanding events.
Moot President – Devonte Smith
Our Moot President, Devonte, is responsible for organising and delivering our largest event – the ‘Inter-varsity Mooting Competition’. This is an annual, nationwide competition which sees the top 10 Speed Mooters debate alongside other universities and those on the BPTC. Devonte’s duties include arranging for esteemed legal professionals to judge the competition. In previous years we have had interest from the most senior judges in the United Kingdom – Supreme Court Justices.
Academic Events Co-ordinator – Caroline Jackson
As Academic Events Co-ordinator, Caroline is responsible for arranging events which will further your academic skills and provide the opportunity for further self development. Her remit also extends to arranging talks, dinners and tours at the Inns of Court to enable our members to learn more about, and gain a deeper understanding of, each of the Inns
Social Secretary – Helena Gann
Helena is responsible for organising the Society’s social events. This ranges from our Welcome Party and Christmas Ball, through to nights out and casual sports tournaments. If you’re looking for info on any of our great socials – Helena is the person to contact.
Speed Moot Co-ordinator – Lal Sargun
As Speed Moot Co-ordinator Lal is responsible for organising the speed moots in the first semester. This involves formulating and distributing moot problems and skeleton arguments for all competitors. She also liaises with judges and keeps track of scores in each round.
Moot Secretary – TBC
Our Moot Secretary works closely with our Moot President and Vice-President to deliver our Inter-varsity Moot. Their role ranges from taking minutes at meetings dedicated to the competition, to liaising with members of the law school and a variety of other ad hoc administrative duties.
Editor – Bonnie Brooks
Bonnie is responsible for our online magazine. She is involved directly with recruiting writers, managing content, and ensuring articles are both accessible and informative. Her duties also extend to promoting the site throughout the Law School and to our members.
