I’m Lauren and I am running for treasurer of the Inns of Court society committee for 2019/2020.
During my first year, I have been very engaged with the Inns society. At the start of the year I participated in the speed moots and throughout the year attended many of the events and opportunities including dinner at the Inner Temple and several workshops including commercial awareness with HSF.
I have really appreciated and embraced all the opportunities that Inns have offered so far, and I will continue to do so throughout my time at Southampton law school. This is part of the reason I wish to join the committee; I hope that I can contribute to encouraging students new and old to get involved with the Inns society events, irrelevant of whether or not they are set on a career at the bar.
I am a particularly organised and responsible individual; therefore, I feel I am capable of undertaking the hugely important and rewarding role of treasurer. My inclination towards pretty coloured notes and spreadsheets will no doubt aid me in controlling the society funds and ensuring that targets are consistently met without fail. Smooth running of events will not otherwise be possible.
As I take my own steps towards a career at the bar, I am optimistic that this role will aid me in both professional and personal development, whilst being able to support and engage with fellow members of the committee and law school.
