I am Caroline Jackson, and I would like your vote for the position of Academic Events Co-Ordinator for the Inns of Court Society.
I am only a first year student, but I’ve already had the chance to benefit from the invaluable support Inns offers, including taking part in the Inter Varsity Moot Competition and taking a trip up to Inner Temple to have dinner with practicing professionals. It’s an amazing help for everyone looking to get a foot in the door in the world of chambers, courts, and barristers.
If elected I would like to expand this, offering more events to more students.
- I’d publicise more events. Inns already does an amazing job in offering a wide variety of trips, dinners, and competitions, but there are things I’ve done myself this year, like visiting individual chambers for networking evenings, that I would make more accessible to students.
- I’d keep supporting the Inns Mooting efforts. We have a dedicated mooting society, but Inns is often involved in organising moots. I’d like to work with the other societies to involve Southampton in as many external competitions as possible, as well as liaising with practicing barristers to arrange masterclasses for those who would like to improve.
- I’d make lasting connections between the society and the professional world. I want to build the reputation of our society outside of the university as well as within it, by making as many connections to establishments like the Inns as possible. As well as a useful tenure as Co-ordinator, I would like to help improve the status of the Society for the future.
So please vote for me as Academic Events Co-Ordinator!
