Hello, my name is Bonnie Brooks and I wish to apply for the role of the Editor of the Inns of Court Society for 2018/2019.
I think I’d be a good addition to the Inns committee in the upcoming year, as although I was not a member of the committee in the last year, I have helped with many Inns events and I feel like I would fit in well with the logistics of the society.
I also currently partake in a similar role to this one in the Vegetarian and Vegan Society as Media Officer, making me experienced in using social media and various other internet platforms in publicising and sharing society news.
Also, I am the current Course Rep for 2nd year LLB Law (Joint Honours) which has provided me with experience in representing students, relaying information and making beneficial changes.
If I was elected, I also have some new ideas that I would like to bring to the society;
- Get more people involved with Innsight – Unfortunately, not many students are aware of the Inns of Court society magazine ‘Innsight’. If I were elected, this magazine would continue to be a useful up-to-date tool with more students in the upcoming year engaging and writing for the magazine.
- Platform for law student articles – Additionally, I want to make a platform on Innsight for sharing a wider range of student articles and thoughts on current affairs. This would be good practice for students to work on commercial awareness and it will provide a space for opinions and thoughts to be shared.
- Efficient communication of meeting minutes – To keep students up-to-date with the society’s meetings, I want to make any minutes from society meetings to be made more accessible on the magazine. Therefore, any concerns or suggestions for the society can be more clearly addressed.
