I am standing for President of the Inns of Court Society because I want to represent you, to implement your ideas. Not only am I a good listener but I am also approachable, which I believe are important qualities as they would enable me to take on your ideas and attempt or endeavour to implement them.
I am keen to ensure that the Inns of Court Society continues to support its members and to improve its events. This is because I have participated in most of their events this year, so I know how beneficial their events can be. I have found the support and events provided by the Society really valuable, particularly in terms of helping me feel a part of the Law department and the University in general. This has consequently helped me to settle into University life. During this time, I feel that I have learned the essence of what the Society is about and I would like to use this knowledge to give back what I gained. I hope that if I was elected President I could ensure that the support for members, as individuals, continued.
As President, I believe that as a Society we should always be looking for ways to improve. For example, I would make more events open to participation from 2nd and 3rd year students, in addition to 1st year students. Whilst achieving this aim, I would maintain the tradition that the Society was represented by 1st year students in the Inter-Varsity Mooting Competition and ensure that the internal Speed Moot Competition be exclusive to only 1st year students (so as not to intimidate them)! Additionally, I propose to amend the internal Speed Moot Competition to make it a less demanding commitment for 1st year students in their first semester. Moreover, I would increase the publicity of Society events using social media, with posts, events and event reminders. Furthermore, I intend to increase the number of social events, starting with a trip to playzone and a Christmas social that would be in addition to the Law Ball!
I urge that you vote for me so as to ensure that your Society would be left in thoughtful, enthusiastic and reliable hands.
