We are the University of Southampton Inns of Court Society – welcome to our brand new online magazine and website.
The Inns of Court Society is one of four law-related societies at Southampton University. Though we were established to help those who are interested in a career at the Bar, our society is open to everyone. We aim to help you develop key skills that are sought after at the Bar and in the legal profession more generally.
The journey to the Bar has grown increasingly competitive in recent years with no sign of change. Our society, and specifically this new website, is here to give you the opportunity to break away from the pack, stand out, and add serious value to your law degree and your employability.
On this website you will find information about our society’s committee and upcoming events. There are sections dedicated to providing you with advice for studying and bagging that all important pupillage or training contract.
The site also provides our members with a platform to publish legal journalism – including pieces of analysis related to important contemporary legal decisions.
If you would like to write regularly for one of the sections of the magazine, simply email 250 words outlining:
1) why you would be suitable for the role; and,
2) why you want to get involved with the Society;
If you would like to submit an article on a one-off basis. Simply email the article to email@example.com with your full name, student number and year group, and we will do our best to publish the article for you.
These opportunities are open to all year groups and we strongly encourage members to get involved to help set themselves apart from the competition!
